According to CNN’s Eatocracy, today is National Eat What You Want day.  Oh dear, if we don’t have enough issues without being encouraged to eat more.  However, that is a great factoid.  Coincidentally today, The Healthy Librarian posted another amazing Happy Healthy Long Life blog; today’s subject, obesity.

I also discovered Twilight Zone Day on a calendar.   Could such a day really exist?  Alas, as verified by USA Today (May 2010), this is Twilight Zone Day.  Whoosh!  Not sure why May 11 was chosen.  Although, in 1962, May 11 was also a Friday when episode 99 “Young Man’s Fancy” aired. The original television series had five seasons with a total number of one hundred fifty-six episodes.

Little sparrow hanging out at window above door. Twilight Zone moment.

Then, an article from Yahoo News verified both days> Oh joy!

“The Misfortune Cookie” Twilight Zone was about food; actually more about a nasty food critic and magical fortune cookies.  Scary, creepy. Personally, Fridays are Mexican food night.  That’s what I want to eat and I want to eat healthy food.

Spinach quesadilla (no cheese) with corn tortilla, brown rice, refried beans, guacamole, potatoes.

Think unconventially. What is your choice today?

I am finally clear why I set up my blog to have a theme per day. Now, just do it. Stick with it.

Adzuki bean, corn with tomatoes, baby bok choy, brown rice

Seems that adjuki bean can be spelled azuki or aduki. I sort of like the combination of the two.
One cup contains 4.6 mg of iron, 119.6 mg magnesium, 1.223 g of potassium, 3.0 mg of zing, and 278 ug of folic acid.

And, let’s not forget about the protein obsession… 17g per cup. What?! or 11g per 1/4 cup

Now I have forgotten why I tried them. Can’t find the article that inspired me with the bean’s incredible powers of some sort. Anyway, I’m always looking for a new bean to try. Thought that I would share.

No this is not a food blog.

The thought of taking care of people and ‘things’ re-entered consciousness as CNN first reported last night on the Whitney Houston autopsy. The immediacy of news reporting is often overwhelming. But, therein lies the dilemma for a news junkie…conflicted in solving the problem or solving the challenge. Or maybe it is just a voyeuristic expedition for knowledge.

In a quest to find what we can do to protect and love, I found an interesting and enlightening article written by Sara Chana Radcliffe where she states, “Love flourishes in an atmosphere of respect and concern.” I love that. But, this article is written in a perspective of marriage and ‘connected relationships.’ That one sentence really struck me as true and impeccable. It touched me and wanted to share. But, I was looking for something in a broader sense and a slightly different direction.

We relish our friends’ company, we are entertained by entertainers that we don’t personally know, and we are comforted by those most close to us. But, can we really protect somebody from self-harm? Now, in self-doubt, I question if the phrase ‘protect and love’ is the right thing. Maybe it’s an ego blown out of proportion in thinking that you can save people. Bound by social confines of mores, ethics, symbolism, behaviors and actions. Maybe it is a chance to figure it out; to figure out a solution.

Protect and love not blame.

I was watching a story, “Obama’s Green Energy Killer” on Fox Business. The broadcast was an enlightening perspective of reporting by Gerri Willis.

The opinion question, listed under Gerri Wants Your Opionion, gave me a rather odd response to my vote. At first, I thought it was my smart phone not connecting properly or responding appropriately. I have received the same response on multiple devices….

and this is my first time voting.

Interesting.
